frequently asked questions

Do I need any special qualifications or previous experience?

No, you do not need qualifications or previous experience. The Will Writing Opportunity business manual sets out everything you need to know about writing wills and running a will writing business. Whereas previous experience is helpful in terms of familiarity with the legal and business background, it is not essential at all.

Is there a big market for will writing services?

The exact figures reported vary, but research has shown that between 33% and 50% of adults in the UK do not currently have a will. This means that there is plenty of scope for energetic will writers to get business and build up a worthwhile income stream.

Do I need to buy/lease office premises or can I work from home?

You can easily run this business from home, as many will writers successfully do. A simple home office set up can work very few but you may wish to explore a dedicated office in the future. We explore the benefits and drawbacks of both options in the business training manual.

There seems to be lots of competition in my area and online. Will this affect my business?

Competition is always a good sign of a healthy industry and will writing is no exception. There is strong nationwide demand for cost effective will writing services and adding in the ‘personal touch’ of a one-to-one consultation will put you ahead of online only services.

Do I need to quit my day job?

Not unless you want to! Will writing is such an attractive opportunity in part because of the flexibility it offers. You can write wills part time, fitting in your clients around your main job in order to pull in an additional income. Or alternatively, you can seek to make it your primary activity and become fully self-employed.

Do I need to obtain a licence?

No. At present, will writing is an entirely unregulated/unlicensed industry which anyone can enter.

How long will it take to get started?

We usually recommend that new will writers take four to six weeks to read through the business manual carefully, as there is plenty of useful information to absorb and come to grips with. However, some people feel confident enough to jump into the business immediately, and refer to the business manual as and when they need it, having obtained their first few wills to write. You have to find what suits you best.

How do I get clients?

The business manual contains an extensive, detailed section on how to run your business. There is a good deal of material on how to market your services, both offline (with flyers etc.) and online (through the website included in the package etc.).

What if there is a question I can’t answer?

First of all, don’t panic! Tell the client that you are not sure of the answer at that time, and that you will go away and check the answer for them. For questions related to the contents of the business manual, we also provide email support, so that you never have a question unanswered.

I have seen other will writing opportunities and franchises advertised. How do these compare to your business package?

There are other good opportunities out there, but the Will Writing Opportunity is unique in its highly efficient and effective approach. We give you everything that you need to know in order to write wills without wasting your time with unnecessary legal considerations, and we give you the crucial business knowledge that will help you achieve success in the current economic climate.

Do I need a website?

In theory, no; but in practice, yes. Although some people still manage without an online presence on the internet, it is increasingly important to embrace technology in order to build your successful business. For this purpose, the Will Writing Opportunity business package includes professional website templates to help you develop your online marketing and get clients that way.

Do I need to make a large capital investment?

The short answer is no. You will need some everyday items which you probably already own, such as a PC with word processor, a printer and a mobile phone. If you choose to offer a will storage service, you will also need a safe in which to store your clients’ signed wills. But apart from this, will writing is such a great opportunity precisely because it is low-risk and low-investment. The big things you will need are energy, enthusiasm, hard work and good people skills!

In which parts of the UK can I write wills with Will Writing Opportunity?

Will Writing Opportunity is intended to provide training to write wills in England and Wales only.

We provide you with all of the procedural training, forms, documents, marketing know-how and expertise to make your new business a success, full or part time. All of this for a one-off payment of £499.95 (Special Offer - Normally £999.95) - you can recoup this small investment from your first 10 wills alone!

"A very methodical, complete business package, straightforward and easy to take in. I would strongly recommend it." (S.J.N. London)
